In 2018, a multi-disciplinary team from India and four other countries collected expenditure data, photographs, 360-degree media, and documentary footage of One Hundred Indian Homes, representing the entire range of per-capita consumption levels found across the country. The result is a website, which lets users visit and compare the One Hundred Homes — and which upends much conventional wisdom on who’s poor and who’s not.
